It’s a blog about making a blog.

While that may sound a lot like a Seinfield episode, here’s my line of thinking.  I initially got the webspace and started a blog for two reasons:

1. So that I own & control nickroshon.com and it comes up when you google my name
2. To learn & refresh some basic web design skills

I thought for a while about what to make this blog about, but nothing was coming to mind.  I could write about SEO, but I’m not really an expert and there are millions of blogs on that.  I love wine, I could write about that I guess, but there are also a million wine blogs and my expertise is far from worth reading.  Ditto on my car, my puppy, and just about everything else that I brainstormed.  I kept trying to think of interests that I have that others would find interesting to read but was falling short on inspiration.

My approach is this: I’m going to chronicle the step by step process of building this blog from a blank website to (hopefully) a really cool blog that readers may want to imitate or at least take a few pointers away from.   I’ll write to the lowest common denominator and make this as simple as possible; my hope is that its so easy even my girlfriend Moira could do it (oooh, burn! ….just kidding babe, love you!)

I’m sure this has been done before, but I hope to provide a unique resource by making this in very simple language and very thorough in documentation, which is pretty rare when it comes to computers and the internet(s).  Once we’ve got the blog established and looking slick, I’ll offer some pointers on how to market your blog, optimize your blogs for search engines, and capture a larger audience.   Thanks for reading!!
